Who Are We?
Based in Boise, Idaho, PedSafety is a leading manufacturer of innovative pedestrian accessibility solutions. Our ISO 9001-certified facility houses comprehensive capabilities from initial design and engineering to advanced machining, automated PCBA manufacturing, powder coating, and precision assembly. While our cornerstone remains creating accessible pedestrian signals, our mission extends beyond crosswalks. We serve the broader mobility community, developing solutions that enhance safety and access for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit users alike. Every product we create advances our vision: making public spaces more accessible for everyone.

Our History
PedSafety is an Employee-Owned, American manufacturer focused on accessible pedestrian push buttons and applications to protect pedestrians. While our main focus is creating accessible pedestrian signals for the visually impaired to cross streets safely and with confidence, we strongly believe that everyone deserves to arrive home safely.
Making a meaningful difference in our community isn’t just a job—it’s our passion. What could be more rewarding than knowing your daily work creates positive change far beyond our workplace? As members of this community ourselves, we understand that safety isn’t just a priority—it’s personal. We are all pedestrians and we’re united by a simple, powerful belief: everyone deserves to arrive home safely.
Excellence is woven into every step of our process, from initial concept to final delivery. Our in-house manufacturing approach means we control quality at every stage, crafting each product from the ground up within our facility. When innovation calls, our team responds with agility—every customization and enhancement happens under our roof. This empowers our engineers to push boundaries and think beyond conventional limits. They’re not just building for today’s needs; they’re creating solutions that anticipate tomorrow’s challenges, ensuring every product we deliver isn’t just meeting expectations—it’s exceeding them.
Accessibility is at the core of our mission. Through the design, engineering, and production of pedestrian devices, we are not only impacting change in our local community but also promoting inclusion across North and South America. We have collaborated with organizations such as Accessible Design for the Blind to develop products that support people with visual impairments, promoting inclusivity and enabling independence for all pedestrians.
Additionally, we take pride in our Assembly Support Department (ASD), which provides an inclusive workplace for neurodivergent team members. This department reflects our commitment to both diversity and inclusion. We believe that accessibility begins within our organization and should be extended to everyone.
Our story began in 1972 when Dick Campbell established Campbell Company, a subsidiary of H.D. Campbell, in Seattle, Washington. What started as an electrical components distributor for the traffic industry soon became an industry leader in pedestrian safety. In 1998 Phil Tate purchased Campbell Company and moved it to his hometown of Boise, Idaho.
A new chapter opened in November 2020 when ownership transitioned from the Tate family to the company’s employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This milestone inspired a transformation: Campbell Company became PedSafety, a name that captures our core mission and leadership in pedestrian safety innovation.
Today, as a vertically integrated, ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer, PedSafety continues to push boundaries in pedestrian accessibility. We specialize in designing and engineering intersection crosswalk solutions that make our communities safer, one step at a time.
