General Supervisor / Lean Manager
Job Description:
The GS / LM reports to the Production Manager (PM);
The General Supervisor / Lean Manager will support plant operations in the development, planning and execution of Lean strategies and metrics providing support to various levels throughout the organization in order to clearly link project metrics to strategy objectives.
The GS / LM will plan, direct, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and lean manufacturing guidelines. The duties and responsibilities include participating in formulating and implementing policy in relation to Lean Manufacturing standards.
The GS / LM position supports and directs the PS departmental responsibility. The GS / LM is responsible for the production flow across all departments and is measured by the overall throughput of the facility. The GS / LM is responsible for optimizing and streamlining manufacturing processes through systems of continual improvement.
The PM has a global view of the company, primarily from a business standpoint, a longer term of vision and has external responsibilities. The PS (Production Supervisor) is internally focused on the department they supervise, they typically have a shorter term of vision. The GS / LM is a combination of the two. They are responsible to the PS in providing materials and resources and to the PM to provide confidence that the plans are being carried out properly.
This position requires an individual that is able to facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment leveraging strong interpersonal skills.
Key to success in this position is the ability to identify and drive operational improvements at all levels utilizing a very “hands on” approach to creating value and buy-in as the lead change facilitator for the plant’s Lean transformation.
